CCS Europe Webinar: Navigating the End of Free Allowances under the EU ETS and the role of CCS
When
Where
The end of free emissions allowances in 2034, as outlined in the revision of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), is set to be a pivotal moment for the decarbonisation trajectory of trade and energy-intensive companies. With the total number of allowances decreasing every year and their prices rapidly increasing, the cost of investing in carbon capture technology is likely to be much lower compared to purchasing the increasingly scarce and expensive allowances.
Does the end of free allowances under the EU ETS create a concrete business case for CCS technologies? Does the end of the free allowances increase the risk of carbon leakage? How does the Commission intend to support industries? Is the ten-year framework a realistic directive or overly ambitious?
Join us at our webinar to find answers to these questions and gain a clear understanding of the link between CCS and the EU ETS.
