In the past two months, a new European Parliament was formed, with Commissioners expected to steer the political agenda. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s agenda focuses on industrial competitiveness and decarbonisation, with carbon capture and storage (CCS) central to these goals. Some Member States have already prioritized CCS in their National Energy and Climate Plans, and significant progress has been made with the EU's first CCS projects breaking ground. However, CCS still lacks a solid business case due to insufficient financial incentives and insurance options, requiring policymakers to establish a supportive legislative framework.

The webinar will explore how to turn CCS into a business opportunity for European suppliers and industries. The discussion will focus on how hard-to-abate industries and CCS suppliers can collaborate to create strong CCS value chains, and what financial mechanisms can de-risk investments and encourage CCS projects.
